Susan Rice Withdraws Name From Consideration For Secretary of State

Well I hope the Repibli"cant's" are happy with themselves. Specifically Sen. McCain.
“If nominated, I am now convinced that the confirmation process would be lengthy, disruptive and costly – to you and to our most pressing national and international priorities,” Rice wrote in a letter to President Obama first obtained by NBC News. “That trade-off is simply not worth it to our country…Therefore, I respectfully request that you no longer consider my candidacy at this time.”
She would have been a wonderful Sec. of State filling Sec. of State Clinton's shoes. Republicans keep acting like spoiled brats when they don't get there way. I'm pretty sure Sen. Kerry is next in line for consideration. Only time will tell and I trust that Pres. Obama will make a wise decision.

Doomsday: 21/12/2012

So for the past few years certain people in certain circles (New Age) claim that the Mayans, a group of people long since gone from Earth, made a calendar that predicted the end of the Earth. There is no science behind these claims. For the most part they are highly illogical. Yet there are those who believe with all their hearts that some catastrophic event will take place on December 21st. 2012. I've heard alternative theories as well. Some believe that there will not be a catastrophic end to the world but rather a changing of human conscience. ... Well I hope so! The world could do with a change. This belief in Doomsday is so wide spread that even NASA had to address. (So that's where all of our tax dollars go, I kid). I will supply a link to their FAQ page addressing this idiocy. But before I do, here are a couple of my favorite questions and answers:
Q: Is there a planet or brown dwarf called Nibiru or Planet X or Eris that is approaching the Earth and threatening our planet with widespread destruction? A: Nibiru and other stories about wayward planets are an Internet hoax. There is no factual basis for these claims. If Nibiru or Planet X were real and headed for an encounter with the Earth in 2012, astronomers would have been tracking it for at least the past decade, and it would be visible by now to the naked eye. Obviously, it does not exist. Eris is real, but it is a dwarf planet similar to Pluto that will remain in the outer solar system; the closest it can come to Earth is about 4 billion miles.
Q: How do NASA scientists feel about claims of the world ending in 2012? A: For any claims of disaster or dramatic changes in 2012, where is the science? Where is the evidence? There is none, and for all the fictional assertions, whether they are made in books, movies, documentaries or over the Internet, we cannot change that simple fact. There is no credible evidence for any of the assertions made in support of unusual events taking place in December 2012.
Here is the link, Beyond 2012: Why the World Won't End It would be beneficial if the human race would stop focusing so much on the end and focus on the here and now. Let's work towards a sustainable future for ourselves and future generations.

Second Bill of Rights?

Until just recently I was actually unaware that President Franklin Delano Roosevelt had suggested a second bill of rights. I've included part of the article found on the Coffee Party website written by Egberto Willies:

This idea is not novel at all. After all, a 2nd Bill Of Rights was first put forth by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s State of the Union Speech to Congress on January 11, 1944. It is amazing that the call to duty in this speech still holds true, and sad that so much of what he wanted for America is still unrealized.

NINETEEN FORTY FOUR! FDR had a great vision for this nation and understood what the people needed for true individual freedom. There is a huge communication problem in D.C. The message is simple and it is possible. Unfortunately we have corruptible politicians standing in the way, being the lap dogs for corporations whose only care is more profits. The following is a quote from the video on the original articles page:

As our nation has grown in size and stature, however—as our industrial economy expanded—these political rights proved inadequate to assure us equality in the pursuit of happiness.

We have come to a clear realization of the fact that true individual freedom cannot exist without economic security and independence. “Necessitous men are not free men.” People who are hungry and out of a job are the stuff of which dictatorships are made.

In our day these economic truths have become accepted as self-evident. We have accepted, so to speak, a second Bill of Rights under which a new basis of security and prosperity can be established for all—regardless of station, race, or creed.

Among these are:

The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation;
The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;
The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;
The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;
The right of every family to a decent home;
The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;
The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;
The right to a good education.

All of these rights spell security. And after this war is won we must be http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifprepared to move forward, in the implementation of these rights, to new goals of human happiness and well-being.

America's own rightful place in the world depends in large part upon how fully these and similar rights have been carried into practice for all our citizens.

For unless there is security here at home there cannot be lasting peace in the world.

Not only should this be an American bill of rights, it should be a world wide bill of rights. At some point, we the people of this world, have to say, enough is enough.

Was America's economy really a "hostage worth ransoming?"

I am just touching up on something I was reading from the Coffee Party website a few minutes ago. If the following quote doesn't make you angry then I do not know what to think of your reasoning!

"For Republican leaders, there was pride in a hand well played. I think some of our members may have thought the default issue was a hostage you might take a chance at shooting. Most of us didn’t think that. What we did learn is this — it’s a hostage that’s worth ransoming."

— Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell

THIS is just sickening!! Wake up Kentucky and vote this piece of shit out of office! Why the American people idly sit by and put up with this is beyond me. These Republicans have taken our jobs from us so let's do them a favor and take away theirs.

Founding Fathers

5 Things Atheists Have Wrong About Religion

“The whole history of these books [the Gospels] is so defective and doubtful that it seems vain to attempt minute inquiry into it: and such tricks have been played with their text, and with the texts of other books relating to them, that we have a right, from that cause, to entertain much doubt what parts of them are genuine. In the New Testament there is internal evidence that parts of it have proceeded from an extraordinary man; and that other parts are of the fabric of very inferior minds. It is as easy to separate those parts, as to pick out diamonds from dunghills."

– Thomas Jefferson, letter to John Adams, January 24, 1814

I found this be a very interesting article. The person who originally posted this to their facebook page only had negative comments to make about the article. I on the other hand like the neutral approach that it is taking. It is true that I greatly dislike religion but I also do not see a problem if my neighbors want to practice a religion. I always find it heart warming when religion helps someone get their life back in order or helps them find peace. I find peace through science and so in that I remain happy and content.

Eric Cantor is willing to sabotage our economy just to provide more red meat to the Tea Party and protect Republicans and their secret anonymous Koch Brothers backed billionaire donors.
